Nothing is held back. Screaming sexy vocals and sexualised lyrics with outer space theatrics all packaged in an overbearing synth dancefloor smasher. GAEA, where are you? Please get in touch with me. Released in 1981 on Lizard Records (private). One of the most interesting records I now own. I have in vein tried to get in touch with GAEA through websites selling her CD from 2000. The CD itself is interesting as it carries a similar overbearing amount of synth with space themes. Though instead of being a punker it’s more of an AOR affair.

Electrifying tantalizing, GAEA brings another dimension to rock and roll. Beyond synthesized music, GAEA’s intelligent, interpretative, energetic style uses the full range of electronic sound to develop a concept that reflects the moods of life. Performing digital and analog electronics with contemporary themes, GAEA’s roots are still in rock and roll and R & B. GAEA has a seductive European style a fluent character all her own, both Musically and Visually. combining futuristic imagery with synthesized textures and innovative musical forms.

More and More local bands are finding their way onto vinyl, mostly the 7″ variety and often through the bands’ own distribution efforts. Such is the case with techno-pop priestess Gaea, who just released a debut single, ‘C’est Magnifique’ b/w ‘Lunar Transmission’ on her own Lizard Records label.

Always attempting to keep up with tomorrow’s trends, FUTURE LIFE dutifully reports the existence of a Hollywood, California outfit calling itself “Future” Rock”; a pop rock outfit publicizing the farthest out performers around. This month’s Rock headliner is silver-clad Gaea, a European synthesizer whiz who appears on stage with a mountain of keyboards while singing such provocative songs as “Future Universe” (“beyond the stars and moons of Jupiter…(is) a place for us in the universe”). What’s a typical Gaea performance like? Well, according to a press release from Future Rock, when the music starts, things get pretty spacey: “People are now dancing, moving to the beat, some are intently listening, strobe lights are distracting, sound and textures completely new to the human ear are demanding attention. She is a driving force, subtle yet dominating our thoughts, from the beginning of the set to the end. I am wondering where she is from, could she be from another world?”

Veteran keyboard player Gaea Hawkins is scheduled to return to the studio and begin work on her forthcoming album.
